Simple food done well. Their salads and sandwiches are delicious and not over-priced. Dinner specials every night -- every time we've had them, they've been great. The staff is very friendly and it's a nice quiet place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Pros: Great food, quiet, friendly staff, locally-sourced or home-grown when possible
Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe
Ella's food is phenomenal, the staff is always very fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is quirky. Live music there is fun, too. There are very few times I've gone to Ella's and been able to have a quiet conversation whether it be due to live music or just the fact that they are PACKED and everyone's conversations creates a tone of noise, so if you're looking for quiet, it's rare and nine times out of ten, you'll have to sit on the patio to get it. Other than that, nothing bad to say.
Pros: Great food, fast/friendly service, indoor & outdoor areas, cool atmosphere
Cons: Loud
New World Brewery is perfect for low-key hangin' out. They don't really have an indoor area, as it's open to the outside, but they do have a covered area in case you don't want to be totally outside. Everyone is always nice/friendly, live music is great and fairly-priced, and there are enough reasonable priced drink choices to please most everyone. Also, they have a sweet jukebox that is free and full of good music, but most times people use the free part of it to pick a million songs, so it's sometimes hard to hear the songs you pick.
Pros: laid back, friendly staff/people, live music
Maybe I'm an old lady, but I like the bricks because I can go and have a conversation with someone without having to scream over the music. The food is always good, albeit a little pricy (I like the kinky tuna). The staff is pretty hit or miss sometimes. I've had very friendly service and sometimes had to, like, tackle the server to order.
Pros: Locally owned, atmosphere, menu options, art gallery
Cons: Gets loud around 9 or 10, sometimes hard to get a drink
King Corona is pretty much my favorite place in Ybor. Their white sangria is killer and you can actually have a conversation in there without screaming at the person you're with. The staff is always really friendly and laid back, too.
Pros: sangria, not too loud
Cons: smell like smoke when you leave
