Description
Still feeling the stress and impact of last weekend's Hurricane Irma? We're throwing a free outdoor beach party for Tampa Bay families this Sunday, Sept. 17th! Join us from 10AM - 4PM for a restorative day in the sun with your family.
Event Details
With many kids going back to school across Hillsborough County on Monday, this is a great opportunity to get out on a local sandbar, have some fun and learn some cool new outdoor skills.
This is a FREE event with the donation of your unused hurricane supplies! We'll be collecting canned goods, water bottles, flashlights, batteries and other hurricane supplies to help aid in the hurricane relief for our friends in the Florida Keys.
iTREKKERS is providing transportation to and from the sandbar in exchange for unused hurricane supplies! Parking is free at the Gandy Boat Ramp. Meet us by the docks where we’ll be ferrying groups starting at 10AM. It's a 15 minute boat ride with a professional, licensed captain to a nearby sandbar beach.
At the beach, we’ll have various outdoor skill learning stations setup for kids and parents alike! Learn how to:
* Paddle board in shallow water
* Cast, hook, reel in a catch and other fishing basics
* Cook canned food camping-style for the next hurricane
We’ll also have a few tents for shade, an outdoor bathroom, and plenty of beach games like:
* KanJam
* Cornhole bean bag toss
* Polish horseshoes
* Frisbees
* Beach balls and footballs
Please bring your own snacks, water or soda, sunscreen and other beach gear for your family. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents are responsible for their kids while on the sandbar.
Note: Kids 6 years old and under (or 90lbs or less) must wear a lifejacket for the boat ride. iTREKKERS will have a limited amount of lifejackets available. If you have your own lifejackets, we encourage you to bring them.
This event is for families with children only.
