Description
Susan Gott has worked in glass for over 30 years and specializes in large scale, cast glass sculpture that incorporates steel or stone. Each sculpture is created using a sand mold process where each piece is individually hand carved, colored, cast from the molten glass, and hand polished to reveal the interior. The finished work embodies her interest in mythological symbolism and philosophies from ancient cultures that express the union of human being and nature.
Gott's work can be found in many private collections, numerous museums, including the Cafesjian Museum in Art in Armenia, The Gulf Coast Museum, and the The Polk Museum. She has completed numerous public art projects and her work can be found at the University of Central Florida, Port Tampa Library, the city of Tampa and city of St. Petersburg.
She holds an M.F.A from Kent State University, studied at Pilchuck, Haystack, Arrowmont, Penland and is the recipient of numerous grants and awards. Susan creates her work from her own Phoenix Glass Studio in Tampa, Florida.
