Yummy House China Bistro

Yummy House is a legend in Tampa. If you're looking for the best Cantonese cuisine in Tampa then look no further. Yummy House has a wide range of excellent dishes to choose from. Once exposed to the masses, mobs of lines appear nightly at Yummy House waiting for some delicious Salt and Pepper Calamari and some XO Sauce creations. The Crab Meat Fish Maw soup is excellent and I have never had a tasty rice dish like their Dried Grape Duck Fried Rice. I have never had a bad service encounter at this original location, but have heard mixed feedback from others - the service staff goes a little crazy because they get so insanely busy. Yummy House doesn't even accept to-go orders - that is how slammed they get with hungry customers. The 3 for $20 deal cannot be beat - take 5 or 6 friends and share 6 items for $40 - in the end everyone will win and save a ton of money, Chinese family-style. The fancier Yummy House China Bistro doesn't create the same food or environment of this whole-in-the-wall original and the nearby Yummy Noodle House doesn't offer all the great dishes at this location. Try the original first - then make your decisions about the others. Certainly a Tampa gem.

Cons: The Waters Ave location had a fire but they have plenty of other locations around the city.

Go to this restaurant, they will not disappoint you. Get the award winning salt and pepper mix on anything you want. We tried the calamari and were blown away. Very reasonable prices for very impressive dishes.

Pros: Service was extremely quick. Parking was a breeze. The restaurant was immaculate.

Cons: Couldn't stop eating and I gave myself a stomachache.

We had to try this place as this is the only place our Chinese students will go for Chinese food and they are always highly recommending it. Had an awesome experience! There were 8 of us so we had one of the of the big tables in back with a lazy susan so we could all share and pass around food. This was one of my favorite parts-family style. Salt and Pepper Tofu, Salt and Pepper eggplant, Salt and Pepper Calamari-excellent! Incredibly fresh, fried perfectly and the cilantro, fried garlic, jalepeno, green onion mixture that came with it was amazing. Seriously addicted to it now. As far as appetizers we also got the crispy eggrolls and seaweed salad-also just as excellent. Everything was perfectly fried and came out right away directly from the fryer. I am not even that into fried appetizers but every single one was awesome. As far as main dishes, we got the Duck, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, Yummy Chicken and a few of the Duck specials. All were very good and we all got a chance to taste everything and pass it around. We will definitely be returning, excellent food, excellent service and great atmosphere. Can't say enough good things about our experience!
