Tue Sep 3, 9:00 AM - Thu Oct 3, 5:00 PM
Tampa Division Courthouse
801 North Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL 33602
Community: Downtown Tampa
Description
The Uhuru movement calls on all freedom-loving people to pack the courthouse and fill the streets during the month-long trial of the Uhuru 3 and to demand an end to the U.S. government’s latest attack on African liberation and freedom of speech.
Event Details
The Uhuru 3 are Chairman Omali Yeshitela of the African Peoples’ Socialist Party, Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee and Jesse Nevel, Chair of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement.
In 2022, FBI agents attacked seven Uhuru Movement homes and offices in violent pre-dawn multi-state raids, including on the St. Pete Uhuru House!
In the next phase of the government’s attack, the Uhuru 3 were indicted on bogus federal charges and now face up to 15 years in prison for expressing views that the U.S. government doesn’t want heard - speaking out for reparations, opposing U.S. unjust wars and building international anti-colonial solidarity.
The U.S. government falsely accuses the Uhuru 3 of being secret pawns of the Russian government in a conspiracy to “sow discord” and of “interfering with elections” by running candidates for local office in St. Pete on a platform of reparations to the black community!
Legal experts believe that if the government wins this case, it will be the end of free speech in the U.S.
Come out to the trial to let the government know: the people demand that the bogus, politically motivated charges be dropped.
