Event Details
Join Powerstories Theatre for a powerful theatrical experience of IRENA'S VOW at Stageworks Theatre, 1120 E Kennedy Blvd., Ste 151, in Downtown Tampa. This powerful drama runs from July 11 to July 21, 2024, with performances from Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 PM and a Sunday matinee at 2 PM.
This production is a part of Powerstories Theatre's season dedicated to bringing critical social issues center stage. With a focus on Antisemitism, Powerstories aims to enlighten, educate, and inspire through the transformative power of storytelling.
IRENA'S VOW is a critical reminder of standing up against hatred in a world where the echoes of history's darkest times resurface. It tells the true story of Irena Gut Opdyke, a courageous Polish woman who risked everything to save Jewish lives during the Holocaust, and it's a testament to bravery, compassion, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Ursula Szczepinska, the Director of Education & Research at The Florida Holocaust Museum, will join us for an opening night talkback following IRENA'S VOW. Ursula's connection to Irena's story promises to add a deeply personal and educational layer to the evening's experience. In the lobby, Powerstories will display 12 traveling banners from The Florida Holocaust Museum.
Powerstories will also showcase the incredible works of nine young artists, the top three winners in each youth category in The Tampa JCCs and Federation' Shine a Light on Antisemitism Youth Art Contest. This powerful exhibition will be displayed in Stagework Theatre's lobby during the play's run.
