Description
On Saturday, September 14, Soroptimist International of Tampa (SI Tampa) will present LUNAFEST®, a fundraising film festival featuring eight short films made by, for and about women.
Event Details
This is the second year SI Tampa has partnered with LUNA®, makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, to bring the traveling short film festival to Tampa. The LUNAFEST® Fundraising Film Festival event will be held at The Portico Café, 1001 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33602. Film screenings will begin at 1:00 PM and light refreshments will be served.
Kit Crawford, Clif Bar Owner & Co Chief Visionary Officer stated “It’s about giving women the opportunity to tell their stories and opening the door for filmmakers who might not otherwise be given the chance to show their art.” Founded in 2000, LUNAFEST® was the first all-women travelling film festival. Today, there are screenings in more than 175 cities across the nation where the works of talented women filmmakers are showcased.
“We are excited to once again bring the LUNAFEST® Fundraising Film Festival to Tampa,” said Trish Wild, SI Tampa 2019 LUNAFEST® Event Chair. “This event is a great opportunity for our community to celebrate women in film and as leaders in society. It fits with SI Tampa’s mission to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.”
Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.lunafest.org/screenings/tampa-fl-091419.
Cost is $20 for general admission and $10 for students/military/age 65+. Proceeds from the event will support SI Tampa’s mission and programs, including multiple annual scholarships for women and career seminars / mentoring programs for girls.
