Description
Madonna is about due for another rediscovery. Every youth generation gets its own version of Madonna; she's famous for self-reinvention.
Event Details
But back when there had only been one Madonna, this was the version we had – a personality initially accused of dangerous sexual promiscuity that we would now recognize as a kind of revolutionary personal ownership of one’s own sexual life and identity. But although Madonna is what most people remember about Desperately Seeking Susan, there’s a lot more here to like. It showcases early performances from John Turturro, Steven Wright, Laurie Metcalf and a ton of cameos from big figures in the underground NYC music scene of the time like Richard Hell and Rockets Redglare.
