Six months after an initial cancelled contract deal, Bass Pro Shops looks as if it may finally be opening a new location at the Estuary in Brandon.
According to the Tampa Tribune, the company hopes to open a, 150,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops superstore in the Estuary building located at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Falkenburg Road. A deal was almost struck back in March, but the company couldn't come to terms with the Estuary developer and the deal dropped out.
Now, Bass Pro Shops and the Estuary have inked a new deal which gives the company full ownership of the building and requests $8.25 million from Hillsborough County for road improvements surrounding the area. County commissioners are set to vote on this request on Wednesday, December 5.
County estimates also suggest that a new Bass Pro Shops location in Brandon could bring over 360 full-time jobs to the Tampa Bay area.
The Estuary developer hopes to eventually add a 90,000-square-foot hotel, 240,000 square feet of additional space for stores, and an entertainment area alongside the Bass Pro Shops if the store proves successful.
Bass Pro Shops originated in Springfield, Missouri before expanding into a nationwide destination retailer specializing in hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activity-oriented goods.
