AJA Channelside Ratings & Reviews
AJA Channelside Ratings & Reviews
I have been to Aja Channelside a few times, always excited about going, but the experience always comes up short of expectations. The drinks are overly priced, the club is too small for the crowds that they sometimes draw and the VIP upstairs does not offer much of a VIP experience. If you want a VIP area, the small private room on the bottom floor is the way to go. I do enjoy the patio bar and the view of Downtown makes for a good spot. Parking at the Channelside garage is annoying now that there are so few nightlife destinations in Channelside. Until the Channelside District picks up, I suggest heading to Ybor City.
Pros: The outside patio bar especially during cool evenings. They usually bring some good live entertainment to the club.
Cons: Over priced for the experience they offer.
AJA is a really fun place to go with a group of friends! I went for someones birthday in my friend group and had a great time! We got the table right under the DJ booth and I would suggest doing that :)
This place is TERRIBLE! Literally everything, to small, no dress code, the service is aweful. The entire staff as terrible, from the bar tenders, bouncers, management. Even the promoters are a joke. I will never come back or recommend this place to a single person. Watched a bouncer attack a guy for no reason at all, he couldn’t move out of the way cause there was to many people stuffed in a small place so the bouncer literally attacked him and another bouncer stepped in and they kicked him out for no reason. Saw not 1 not 2 but 3 security/bouncers smoking blunts with what appeared to be their friends, while working inside the club. Honestly, I don’t know how this place hasn’t been shut down after the things I witnessed.
Pros: Visually appealing, looks nice from the street, place is dirty up close and the staff is dirtier
Cons: Everything, service, space, literally NO customer service skills from anyone including management. No dress code, no space, staff is obserdly rude. Seriously don’t come here
Best upscale bar and club in Tampa!
Nice small club right next to channelside. They have a great top shelf AYCD! Music selection was good. Wings smelled great as well.
Until tonight every time I visited aja it was good. Tonigt however was by far the worst experience I've ever gotten. From what i heard, there was a new promotion event for the club and the girl who's supposedly a "Promoter", told me admission was $10. I gave her a $20 and she gave back just $5 back and shut the cash register im my face. Which is absolutely unprofessional and absolutely unnecessary. After arguing about the first stated admission price for half a minute she had to call a bouncer up to make her case. Ridiculous how the club claims to have excellent customer service but has a thief running the cash register. Not sure if she was a promoter or a pro-scammer. Either way this club should not be having a girl with this type of attitude running the payment area. It is a shame to have her working at an "upscale" club and giving less than decent service. Def not worth the $15. Wouldn't even pay $5 for cover if I could. Get rid of the money-stealing ****! I guess karma gets us all back soonsr or later right ;)
Pros: Good music
Cons: Absolutely bad customer service, specifically the girl over-collecting cover charge.
Don't Go to Aja!!! I am a 28 year old 114lb female veteran. All I was doing was drinking my last drink of the night and saying goodnight to my girls when the female bouncer came up to me and snatched my drink out of my hand. She did not identify herself as staff at all. When I picked it back up again she bushed me hard then got on top of me. The male bouncers broke us up and carried me outside. I was telling them to let me go and that she pushed me first... they said they didn't care. They start fights just to get excitement. Outside (even though she started it) the bouncers held my arms and called the cops. Three bouncers pushed me down and where on top of me. I was screaming for my life and no one would help me. Mind you I cannot do any damage to these 200lb men. They are overly violent. DO NOT GO TO AJA!!!!! I have called the club several times and no one calls me back. I even tried to get a lawyer, but because there is no video of the event they will not take my case. I am telling you now don't go. It was over priced anyway. There are better places to go. BOYCOT AJA!!!
Pros: Sometimes have cool guests
Cons: The bouncers beat people up.
Everyone has posted about them liking white people; I feel like it depends on who is working because I got accused of drinking(im under 21) and I was definately not because I can't drink anyway. I am a white female and the ethnic female bouncer singled me out of a large crowd of people I was with that had plenty of other underage girls(all ethnic) she could have singled out and told me I was giving her attitude when I had not even spoken to her! I paid to get into this club that was empty anyway. The club was dead on a Thursday! I feel like this club is going downhill quickly. I know I will NEVER go back neither will any of my friends!
Cons: rude staff. discrimination. expensive drinks(according to my friends over 21).
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Terrible service the staff is extremely rude. The club had very few people in it and it was a Thursday. Nothing good to say it was bad! Bouncer threw away my friends drink because she accused my friend(under 21) of drinking out of it when he wasn't!
Pros: of Class
Cons: Dress Codes
I've never been treated more poorly by an establishment in my life. On new years eve of all nights I was talked down to by the doorman and left to stand aside as I waited to retrieve my lisence. The bouncer showed no concern for the fact that I was responsible for driving 6 friends home who had been drinking and entered the club and was instead hung up on the fact that I had challenge him on taking away my lisence in the first place when I had just watched him briefly look at 2 bogus IDs and band underage people. I was told I could go in but there was no way I was paying 20 for such poor treatment. I will NEVER go back or reccommend it to any one else
Cons: Doormen on power trips.
I went to Aja for the first time the other night and was pleased and displeased at the same time. The club is split into three narrow corridors which makes moving around difficult. I was very displeased when I found that over 21 patrons not only paid a 15$ cover charge, but that they paid for drinks that are extremely over priced. The music and atmosphere were average for this type of club and the bars were a bit on the small side. The staff was quick and dedicated so that was a plus. I love that the club requires a good appearance to enter but I don't think the prices of drinks should reflect that persona..in Tampa at least. Overall, I don't think I will be going back very often if at all to Aja. My only real deterrent is the price. I feel that if an establishment allows 18 and up to enter and charges a cover for 21 and up..the drinks should be more reasonable considering our age group are the ones bringing in the dough. I could have spent half the money for the experience I got at other establishments for sure.
Pros: Awesome atmosphere, great lighting and effects, and good dj's
Cons: Ridiculously expensive drinks, very narrow corridor setup, expensive cover charge
Pros: Ubër hip
Cons: Get to pack to quick
Door staff are typical high school drop outs trying to feel important by being asses to everyone. Saturday's seem to be promoted by some guy with weird hair that likes to stand in the median of the street adjacent to the club's front door; he'll promise you a bunch of stuff that will never happen.
Pros: 1/2 way between soho and hard rock when you're ready to go somewhere better.
Cons: Aja is one of those clubs that makes you stand in line and pay cover even when the place is mostly empty; yes, pay us for the privilege of letting you in. Once you're in, you'll realize that you just paid $10 to stand around a bunch of conceited people you'd rather not be around to begin with.
Don't waste your time!
Pros: Clean
Cons: This place won't even enjoy the obligatory 15 minutes of fame most clubs in Tampa are allotted. Crowd is made up of lost souls who follow the new bar scene from place to place. I had a chance to meet the manager while I was there, Enrique DeJesus or something similar to that. He doesn't seem to have a grasp on what it takes to run a club. Go here quick if you want to see it with people in it. It's 5 minutes of fame is running down. I had 4 girlfriends who went there last night with tickets straight from their website. Manager didn't honor the tickets & wouldn't refund their money. They are desparate for every penny they can get since it's obvious they aren't going anywhere.
Pros: This Place is so nice. The Best upscale Club In Tampa area.
