While it might not be as vast as other restaurant-heavy neighborhoods throughout the area, the culinary landscape of Downtown Tampa is a growing one, and the prospect couldn't be more exciting. Case in point; Tun-Du-Ree's upcoming plans to open a brand-new Indian restaurant in Downtown Tampa.
If the name sounds familiar, you might recognize Tun-Du-Ree from its previous locations on Kennedy Boulevard and Bay to Bay Boulevard. Now, the Tampa Indian restaurant has plans to move into a larger space in Downtown Tampa.
The fast-casual Indian restaurant plans to renovate and set up shop in the former location of the Metro nightclub on Franklin Street according to the Tampa Tribune. Originally started as a small food truck in Downtown Tampa, Tun-Du-Ree eventually expanded into two locations before deciding to consolidate into a single restaurant in Downtown Tampa.
Tun-Du-Ree's previous locations and the new one in Downtown Tampa are unique due to their fast-casual format where customers order and pick up their food at the counter.
The Downtown location will also double as a source kitchen for other eateries throughout the area as part of a new partnership between Tun-Du-Ree and food service corporation Aramark. Tun-Du-Ree's new location will supply a number of cafeterias throughout town including those of including PricewaterhouseCoopers, J.P. Morgan Chase, St. Joseph's hospitals and the University of South Florida under the separate name of "Spiceline".
Tun-Du-Ree officials expect the new, Downtown Tampa location to open sometime in December.
