Located on MacDill Ave and set back from the street, many people might pass by The Lure. But those that do are missing out. The new addition to the South Tampa food scene has a wraparound porch that takes full advantage of terrific Tampa weather.
A sister of the popular location on Central Avenue in Downtown St. Pete, The Lure sounds like a seafood place, and with both restaurants surrounded by water it’s not surprising that the seafood is fresh and delicious. From a plethora of sushi options and poke bowls to good old southern favorites like shrimp and extremely creamy grits, there’s something for every surf lover here.

The sushi and sashimi are also quite popular, and you can watch them being prepared in the open kitchen. The menu is full of all the popular favorites, (the California roll is even named the "Going Back To... Well You Know due to its prevalence), but also the Marquis De Quisenberry: salmon, spicy kani salad, mango and asparagus rolled in seaweed and lightly tempura, resting in a garlic miso sauce and drizzled with a pomegranate glaze. So yes, both comfort and gourmet sushi are available.

There’s also plenty for lovers of the turf side of Surf & Turf. Loaded tater tots, charcuterie boards of wonderful meat and cheese and ‘big ass’ meatballs, just the star of plenty of delicious choices. With comfort food complemented by a simple platter of wonderful flavors, you won’t have a bad meal here. Sandwiches lovers will be hooked by the Joey Meatballs; three huge meatballs on a sandwich roll, smothered in marinara and cheese. For those that like to feel fancy when they go out, The Charlotte is the answer. A delicious and tender pork belly on creamy risotto, the whole meal is delightful. The pork is sweet and just a little crispy on the outside, perfectly balanced by the rich flavors of the risotto.

The Lure Tampa also has pool tables inside to keep with the casual vibe. It's a neighborhood hangout... but one with delicious food that can compete with any high-end catch house.
Take a break for lunch or head over for dinner, you’ll have a wonderful meal either way. And when the weekend rolls around, they’re the newest brunch spot in South Tampa. Enjoy a nice homey atmosphere with fantastic food... and don't forget the wide selection of tiki drinks!
