We wholeheartedly believe the old adage that says the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. For us, a big ol' plate of delicious chicken wings will always do the trick. When it comes to some great ones in Tampa, Wings Gone Wild will definitely hit the spot, especially around lunch time.
This South Tampa wing joint can be praised for a lot of things, but what really takes the cake is their 5 for $5 lunch deal. For five bucks you can choose lunch selections including their certified Angus cheeseburger with fries, French dip sandwich with fries, chicken house or Caesar salad, and, of course, 10 of their jumbo chicken wings in bone-in and boneless varieties.
Oh, and the $5 pitchers of Bud Select aren't too bad either.
Wings Gone Wild also offers a variety of game starters to kick your affordable lunch off. We went with the Southwest Egg Rolls; crispy fried egg rolls stuffed with grilled chicken, black beans, cilantro, jalapenos, jack cheese, and corn, and served with chipotle ranch.
These things are a tasteful delight, adequately stuffed and served in a size generous enough to satisfy three. The flavors of the stuffing meld to create an equally smoky and spicy taste perfectly cooled off by a healthy dip in the accompanying chipotle ranch.
Wings Gone Wild wings are pretty standard fare. It's pretty hard to mess up the simple concept of a fried chicken wing. WGW takes it up a level, though, with wings that definitely live up to their "jumbo" descriptor and a huge variety of traditional and more inventive sauces.
Their hot buffalo sauce was everything it should be; lip searing, tangy, applied generously, and pretty delicious. Mango habenero was also pretty spicy, but overpowered a tad by its own heat. My personal favorite was the sweet and spicy that tastes heavenly melded with the crispy skin and savory chicken meat.
For $5, this is definitely one of the best lunch deals in Tampa. Check out Wings Gone Wild and see if you agree. Then, give them your own review and rating on the 813area Wings Gone Wild business listing.
