South Tampa gourmands are licking their chops at the news that a buzz-generating regional eatery is about to open a second space closer to home. The Lure—making headlines with its funky, eclectic offerings that once included grasshopper tacos (currently being tweaked)—is a restaurant in St. Petersburg favored for its hipster vibe, laid-back ambiance and most importantly, fabulous eats.

When it opened last year on 661 Central Ave. in downtown St. Petersburg, diners flocked to The Lure for fun and kept coming back for the delicious range of chef-created tacos, flatbreads, tapas, and sushi. Patrons enjoyed the unique décor, the billiards table and fabulous tikis or local microbrews during their generous happy hours. On weekends, patrons flocked here for the brunch and unlimited mimosas.
Perusing the menu at The Lure is fun with appetizers like Voodoo Chips and Lava Drops, and sushi rolls like the Not The Tampa Roll (tempura battered white fish, cucumber, spicy mayo, and scallions) or the Last Mango in Paris (snow crab, freshly sliced mango, avocado, and smelt roe). Have fun with flatbreads named The Fig and the Pig and the Godfather.
Cool fact: At The Lure, you can do good by eating well! Each flatbread has been created by a local chef, and when you order one, $1 will be donated to the charity of that chef’s choice.
As a restaurant in South Tampa, The Lure will occupy the old Catrina’s space at 2402 S. MacDill Ave., just blocks away from another South Tampa staple, Datz.
