Adam Richman, food connoisseur for Travel Channel's show Man vs. Food, visits Tampa, FL again and this time he is here on his quest to find the best food trucks in the country. He has already been to Tampa for a hot wing challenge at Rapscallions, a grouper reuben and gator ribs at Skipper's Smokehouse, and most recently for a Cuban sandwich at Aguila Sandwich Shop. So what damage is Adam looking to do this time? He is taking on the beef kabob tacos at Taco Bus Tampa.
While we know the Taco Bus as a local favorite, it has been getting some national attention. You may also remember that Guy Fieri, host of the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, has stopped in at the Taco Bus in Tampa (you can see his picture on the bus). While there is now a St Pete Taco Bus, these shows are coming to the Tampa location as it is the original location.
Adam Richman is known for conquering massive food challenges all over the country. So you may be asking yourself what food challenge is he conquering because Taco Bus doesn't have one. Well, Rene Valenzuela, owner of Taco Bus, was thinking the same thing and didn't know if he wanted the show to stop at his restaurant. When he found out they were doing a series on food trucks around the country, he had a change of heart and was excited to have Adam and Man vs. Food Nation stop through. Rene stated that if he had to offer a challenge, he probably would have Adam try to eat three giant burritos.
With a job of travelling around the world eating food, there is probably very little that Adam Richman has not tried. His visit to Taco Bus offered him something he said he never had. "I guess I'm just not used to having bacon in a taco, and now I'm kind of mad it's taken me this long to have bacon in a Taco," Adam stated.
The Taco Bus Man vs. Food episode airs on September 28, 2011 at 9pm on the Travel Channel. This episode will feature three food trucks; one in New York where Adam eats waffles topped with barbecued ribs, a California truck that offers Adam a chance to conquer their White Rabbit burrito, and the Taco Bus where he cooks and eats the beef kabob tacos with Rene. You can view the preview of this Man vs. Food Taco Bus episode on the Travel Channel's website.
It is good to see a local restaurant get some positive national attention. Taco Bus has been around for a long time, even before this new surge in food trucks. The Taco Bus has also been featured in the Taco Bus Taste Tour of 813 as well as the best Mexican restaurants in Tampa.
