Tampa has no shortage of restaurants, but we’re always excited to see a new eatery open- especially if their aesthetic and menu are unique like at SweetFish. New to Downtown Tampa, this rustic-modern locale with lush greenery is causing a stir (pun intended) with its poke and acai. Their flavor-packed menu features Hawaiian and Japanese cuisine, crafted by Chef David Reyes, of the award-winning Haiku restaurant.
If you’re not familiar with poke, this Hawaiian take on sushi consists of raw, marinated fish (usually tuna) tossed over rice and topped with vegetables and sauces. SweetFish has a selection of delicious poke bowls as well as what they call “pokerritos,” which serves up poke burrito-style.
SweetFish is also creative with their other speciality, acai bowls; among their options is a Captain Crunch Acai! This bowl is tasty and good for you, too, with acai berry puree, peanut butter low-fat yogurt, banana, almonds, goji berries, seasonal berries and fruits, coconut flakes, flax seed, chia seeds, and cocoa nibs.
In addition to poke and acai, SweetFish also has a variety of fresh juices and smoothies. Between one of these and an acai bowl, you’re on the path for wellness as fruits, seeds, and other healthy ingredients are used.
Whether you’re craving poke, acai, or just a juice or smoothie, you can get it any day as SweetFish is open 7 days a week from 11 a.m to 10 p.m. You can see their menu on the SweetFish Facebook page and on their website; they can also be contacted at (813) 537-3432. This is the third concept from Phoenix Hospitality Group, which opened both Haiku and Eden Lounge and Nightclub in downtown Tampa earlier this year.
