The newly-opened Copperfish Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar has been open in the former location of the Samba Room in Hyde Park's SoHo district for a few months now, and it's already been deemed "the best new restaurant of 2013" by the Tampa Bay Times.
Copperfish is the brainchild of former Samba Room owner, Gordon Davis, who also launched notable Tampa restaurants including Ceviche (which he sold in 2008), St. Bart's Island House, Smoke Barbeque & Grill, Ciro's Speakeasy and Supper Club, and Boca Kitchen Bar and Market.
As you'd expect, Copperfish specializes in a huge variety of fresh seafood prepared seemingly every different way. Guests can chow down on raw and cooked oysters, sushi and steaks as well as enjoy an ample selection of drinks from the bar including beer, wine, elixers (or, cocktails), and more.
Copperfish has an interesting take on oysters with menu selections divided by oyster species and where they're from. You can pick one, a half dozen, or a dozen oysters with selections including Cape Spear Salts from New Brunswick, Kumamotos from Washington, and more.
But, the seafood selection doesn't stop there. Main course highlights at Copperfish include a light, flaky Yellowtail Snapper; a No. 9 Lobster Roll served on a pillowy brioche bun with Old Bay kettle chips; Berkshire Double Cut Pork Chops; Stuffed Lobster; and more.
