The ever-growing Cigar City Brewing is preparing to expand into the restaurant business. The Tampa brewery has announced it will open a new brewpub-style eatery in North Tampa sometime in February of 2013, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Cigar City Brewing will take over a former TGI Friday's location at 15491 N Dale Mabry Highway and transform it into the Cigar City Brewpub, a craft beer-inspired bar and restaurant serving Tampa-style Cuban food, special beers brewed right on the premises, and more.
Owner Joey Redner is working with local chefs to build a menu for the new restaurant. It will have brewery-style decor inside with tables made with barrel stays and other brewery-related fixtures.
The announcement of the new Cigar City Brewpub follows a slew of visible successes at the hand of the brewery over the past year.
Back in June, Cigar City Brewing opened a small bar and restaurant inside the Tampa International Airport alongside a handful of other Tampa restaurants including Green Iguana, Mis En Place, and more.
In addition, construction is currently under way to expand Cigar City Brewing's tasting room at their original brewery location on Spruce Street. After construction, the new tasting room will be tripled in size and have up to 24 taps.
We'll keep you posted as more news arises regarding the new Cigar City Brewpub.
