I’m not sure if you got the memo but, spirited dinners are the next big thing in culinary innovation. For one night only, top mixologists and chefs come together to create a multi-course meal that highlights the unique flavor profile of the spirit. If you’re a Tampa Bay foodie, you’re going to want to get tickets to these early and often. Lucky for you, there’s one coming up later this month in Tampa.
Downtown Tampa has seriously stepped up its foodie game lately. There are more bars that serve craft cocktails and more restaurants and cafes that appeal to more than just the grab-n-go downtown lunch crowd. Anise Global Gastrobar is no exception. This trendy Downtown Tampa restaurant is leading the charge by offering monthly 4-course experiences dinners that feature a different spirit each month. On Tuesday, July 24th, Anise will introduce the Opihr Gin Spirited Dinner held in their exclusive private party room. Four delectable courses will each be paired with a craft cocktail using Opihr Gin.
This is no easy task. Developing the right pairings is both an art and a science. Each course will showcase the complex and aromatic African & Asian spices found in Opihr Gin. Overseeing the process is one of Tampa Bay’s star mixologists, Justin Grey. Grey was raised in Tampa and is no stranger to the food scene. Through events like the monthly spirited dinner, he is hoping to help the city raise its culinary profile and develop its potential as an international destination for food, arts, and culture.
“Most people know me from managing at Downtown Tampa’s Anise Global Gastrobar; or possibly my heavy involvement with the United States Bartenders’ Guild Tampa Bay Chapter six years running,” says Grey. “For years, major cities like New York have been worlds ahead in food, beverage, and nightlife options. Now with awesome concepts like Anise, or Rooster and the Till, I think we can say we’ve caught up.”
Grey’s efforts are certainly not going unnoticed. In just a few short years, Anise has become a culinary and social hotspot for trend-setters. They’ve quickly become known as the place to grab a drink before and after seeing a show at The Straz and a fun after-party spot to unwind after a gala or downtown event. Adding a monthly spirited dinner reflects the fun and innovative environment that Downtown Tampa has become and this is just the beginning.
This event is one that can’t be missed and it will sell out so get your tickets so you won’t be left out! The $70 four-course all-inclusive dinner will take place in Anise’s private “Back Room”.
