It's been just over a year since the controversial Club Empire closed the doors on its Ybor City location at 1902 E. Seventh Avenue following three shootings and an unfortunate death at the club.  Another nightclub, Dream took Empire's place, but apparently, couldn't drum up the same enthusiasm that Empire had fostered.

Now, 1902 E. Seventh Avenue will get another shot at success.  A local management group plans to open Factoria, a club that pays homage to the Ybor cigar industry and Latin culture, in the former Empire location according to the Tampa Tribune.

Factoria will open "soon" and will feature Latin music and Latin DJs on most nights of the week as well as three different bar stations lined with historic memorabilia, professional cigar rolling, and more according to the club's management group.

Factoria aims to cater to both a younger and older crowd, enforcing a strict no-sneakers or caps dress code during nighttime events with plans to host daytime events featuring live Latin bands, mojitos, and domino games.

When opened, Factoria will be the first nightclub of its kind in the district that pays homage to Ybor's rich cultural history and traditions.
