All proceeds for the 2017 event will benefit the Children's Cancer Center, Ryan Nece Foundation, and Clothes to Kids. The Charity Polo Classic was founded in early December 2011 by Advertising Executive and Professional Polo Player, Chris Gannon and Children’s Cancer Center Board Member, Patrick Moraites. The men decided to combine their love for philanthropy and polo to create an event that is unlike any other in the Tampa Bay area. After reaching out to their business contacts and friends, the 1st Annual Charity Polo Classic Planning Committee was created. The team was given the difficult task of conceptualizing and organizing a large-scale event in only three months.
The 1st Annual Charity Polo Classic was held March 31, 2012 at DI Polo Club in Plant City and benefitted the Children’s Cancer Center, Kettle Comfort and Combat Wounded Veterans Challenge. Over $73,000 was raised and nearly 400 guests traveled to Plant City for the event. The event received massive amounts of media coverage appearing in print publications such as the Tampa Bay Times, tbt*, Tampa Tribune and on television broadcasts with CW 44, Daytime, and Studio 10.
The 2nd Annual Event was held February 23, 2013 at DI Polo Club in Plant City with Reeves Imports as the Exclusive Title Sponsor. Over $130,000 was raised to benefit the Children’s Cancer Center, Starting Right Now and Wheels of Success. America’s Most Wanted Host, John Walsh, played in the polo match and Golf Channel Host, Lauren Thompson,
