The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club is a non-profit service organization working to improve our community by volunteering our time and financial resources In the early years, the Brandon Juniors were instrumental in the building of the Brandon Civic Center and worked diligently to build the cabinets in the facility that were used for over 25 years. We have been major contributors to the Brandon Area Scholarship Fund since its inception. In addition to supporting the many projects of the Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs, such as Sunland Training Centers, Project Concern, Hacienda Girls Ranch, Project Healthy Baby, Special Olympics, and others, we were the motivating force behind the School of Hope for Exceptional Children, pre-school vision screening and the Mother’s March of Dimes in Brandon. Our club purchased CPR equipment for the Brandon community and donated it to the Brandon Community Hospital when it opened.
For many years, Brandon Juniors had worked enthusiastically with the President’s Roundtable to raise the money to realize the dream of a Cultural Center in Brandon. When the Cultural Center became a reality, Brandon Juniors became one the founding patrons. We also worked to renovate and increase public awareness of the Nettles Group Home, a permanent home for eleven profoundly disabled children.
