Originating in Brazil, açaí (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) bowls are the superfood meal replacement taking over the Bay Area and stealing healthy hearts across the nation. The açaí berry is a reddish-purple fruit reminiscent of a blueberry or cranberry and offers a wealth of health benefits to consumers of açaí in Tampa. Benefits include a high level of antioxidants comparable to that of cranberries, iron, calcium, fiber, vitamin A, and low sugar content.
Whether they love açaí bowls for their health benefits or unmatched aesthetic appeal, Tampa residents of all ages are partaking in the açaí craze as they grace your news feed with colorfully nutritious goodness. Below is a list of my favorite places serving açaí in Tampa liked by avid runners and Instagrammers alike:
Swami Juice
2832 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33629
This quaint health food hub offers açaí bowls as well as smoothies and cold-pressed juices. The açaí bowl menu consists of six signature combinations, including my favorite combination to-date found in the Hang 10 Hemp Bowl. This dish offers a blended açaí, strawberry, blueberry, hemp protein, cacao, and almond milk topped with granola, strawberry, banana, coconut flakes, raw honey, and peanut butter or, my favorite, almond butter.

Rico’s Açaí
401-425 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33602
Head Chef Matthew Williams, a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, brought his açaí experience to Charlotte, NC, establishing Rico’s Açaí to share wonderful flavors with inland Americans. The business has since spread to a fun food truck experience in Tampa. Specialties at Rico’s Açaí in Tampa include the Brazil Bowl, Butter Bro Bowl, Panther Bowl, and Rainbow Bowl. My guilty pleasure at Rico’s is topping my bowl with a hearty serving of pineapple and Nutella.
