On Saturday, April 14, you and your family can light up the night in Downtown Tampa for a fantastic cause! My Hope Chest, a charity focused on helping uninsured and underinsured breast cancer survivors with the expense of breast reconstruction after a mastectomy, is holding its 3rd Annual Butterly GloWalk fundraising 5K run and walk along the Tampa Riverwalk.
The Butterfly GloWalk isn't just any ordinary fun run, though. It starts at sunset, and participants wear butterfly wings, glow-in-the-dark paint, and glow-in-the-dark accessories to create a trail of fun and exercise all along the Tampa Riverwalk course!
This year's walk/run will begin at Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park on Old Water Street, just south of Amalie Arena. At the starting line, face painters will help apply your glow-in-the-dark paint, while at the Wing Fitter's Station, you can get your butterfly wings adjusted just right. A Butterfly GloW station will also have glow-in-the-dark accessories for sale.
Then the race begins, with 5K runners making a round trip from Cotanchobee Park to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and back. Walkers follow behind the runners for an approximately one-mile walk. After everyone crosses the finish line, a GLoWPaRty and awards ceremony with music, bling, and dancing goes all the way until midnight. (You don't have to participate in the race to attend the GLoWPaRty, but a separate ticket is required.)
You can register yourself for the Butterfly GloWalk and form your "Sleepy Butterflies" fundraising team now! With the Butterfly GloWalk early registration special, you can save $5 off an adult registration, kids registration, or Glow PaRty ticket now through the end of February. The Butterfly GloWalk is also looking for volunteers to help set up the event in advance and assist on race day.
It's sure to be a colorful and fun evening on the Tampa Riverwalk at the Butterfly GloWalk! Get your friends and your fundraising teams together for this unique event, and help My Hope Chest support breast cancer survivors with the final step of their recovery.
