Get ready, Tampa Bay. The 2011-12 Lightning season is right around the corner. There's a lot of changes in store for our beloved team including new ownership under general manager, Steve Yzerman, and an entirely revamped coaching staff under head coach, Guy Boucher. In addition to changes in personnel, the Lightning will be play in a newly-renovated St. Pete Times Forum rife with new seating, a margarita party deck, full-pipe organ, and more totaling $35 million worth of new renovations.
To get a taste of all that's in store for the 2011-12 Lightning season, you owe it to your self to check out the second annual Lightning Launch event on Tuesday, October 4. Beginning at 7 p.m. the event will celebrate the start of the Lightning season and feature a concert by rock legends, the Steve Miller Band.
The event is free for all Lightning season ticket holders. Tickets range from $25 to $92 for everyone else. Watch an official introduction of the 2011-12 Lightning team including appearances by Steven Stamkos, Marty St. Louis and Vinny Lecavalier. Lightning personalities including Guy Boucher, Dave Andreychuk, and Chris Dingman will also be on hand.
Then, rock greats, the Steve Miller Band will hit the stage at Lightning Launch. Selling over 30 million albums worldwide in their long career, the Steve Miller Band lay claim to a slew of classic rock hits including "The Joker", "Jungle Love", "Fly Like an Eagle", and others.
The Lightning don't officially start their season until Monday, October 17 when they square off against the Florida Panthers, but to get a taste of all that's in store for the 2011-12 season, check out Lighting Launch on Tuesday, October 4.
