Imagine Dragons, My Chemical Romance and Twenty One Pilots may be household names today, but once upon a time, they were little indie rock bands looking for a place to play. The stage that helped catapult them to fame? Right here in Tampa, at the 97X Next Big Thing.
Soon you can catch one of the bands vying to perform at this year’s Next Best Thing Concert at the Aloft Hotel in downtown Tampa. From 6-7 p.m. Nov. 17, local band DBMK will perform at Aloft, which is also the official hotel of The 97X Next Big Thing. Festival-goers get 20 percent off their regular room rate.
DBMK is an alternative pop band whose music has been described as almost cinematic in its scope and feel. The Tampa-based quartet sings about teenage heartache and the pursuit of identity, and their 2016 release, Collapse, was met with rave reviews from alt-music publications such as Strife, Depth Magazine and Unclear Magazine.
Aloft Hotel is supportive of the arts, often showcasing art shows and musical talent. It's located on the beautiful Tampa waterfront and close to Downtown Tampa venues like the Tampa Convention Center, the Florida Aquarium, the University of Tampa and Amalie Arena.
Enjoy the music of DBMK with the Next Best Thing Concert at the lovely Aloft Hotel this Friday evening starting at 6 p.m.
