A new, exciting monthly event celebrating downtown's arts and culture scene kicks off tomorrow when residents begin picking up special wristbands from cultural locations around the city. The idea is to park your car at a wristband location, or in the downtown corridor and walk, taxi or bike to featured locations.The plan is to highlight downtown cultural venues alongside restaurants located on or near The Riverwalk.
 

4th Friday |Tampa's New Arts and Cultural Event on the Riverwalk

Beginning at 4:00 pm on Friday, April 22, Tampa's second 4th Friday, you can pick-up a FREE 4th Friday wristband at any of the seven anchor destinations. Your wristband gives you complimentary rides on the new Pirate Water Taxi and special offers from participating venues and restaurants. Walk the Riverwalk, board the Pirate Water Taxi or hop on a bike courtesy of Coast Bike Share to visit participating venues:

Pirate Water Taxis (4-8:30 pm): Ride Free with your wristband on designated “Fourth Friday” water taxis. Look for them at the Tampa Bay History Center and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park every 30 minutes.

Henry B Plant Museum (4-5 pm): Enjoy Free General Admission. Including a complimentary audio wand for the 'Florida's First Magic Kingdom' video and to gain access to the museum's adorable special exhibition, 'Dogs in Art'.

John F. Germany Public Library (4-6 pm):  Ever wanted to give 3-D printing a try? A supply rocket lifted off this week to deliver a 3-D printer to astronauts on the ISS so they can make tools!  Crazy right!  Friday night you can explore The Hive’s 3D printing and Robotics labs, the recording studio, the Florida History & Genealogy Library’s historic Burgert Brothers Photographic Collection, and meet the Kotler Art Gallery’s featured artist, Mike Hanlon. Price for entry, your wristband!

Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (4-7 pm):  Free with the price of admission take one of two special guided tours (5:30 & 6:30) and nibble free finger foods at the cash bar.

Tampa Bay History Center (5-7 pm) Flash your wristband and pass into one of the greatest exhibits Re-Placing Fort Brooke. Using amazing mapping technology they recreated the U.S. Army outpost once occupying the lower end of downtown Tampa back in the 1800s. Examine Tampa's History in a new way, see what is on the wall in the main staircase (ahhh the memories) and view rare photos of early Tampa in this comprehensive gem conveniently located on the Riverwalk.  We are not sure if the Cafe will be open, if it is, grab a drink on the deck, the view is spectacular!

Tampa Museum of Art (5-8:00 pm) You decide the price of admission with your wristband during 4th Friday! Docent-led tours of Jaume Plensa’s 'Human Landscape' outdoor sculptures begin at 5, 6, and 7 pm. And don't miss the Terrace where AIA Tampa Bay will showcase 2015 Architecture Design Award Winning works for you.  See what the best and brightest architectural minds are doing and learn how AIA Tampa Bay supports local architects.

Straz Center for Performing Arts (6-9:00 pm) - Enjoy a free live outdoor performance by Francesca Ani  or take advantage of discounted tickets ($25 with wristband, 1 per wristband, per person) for the 7:30 pm performance of 'Murder for Two'. AND 50% off admission to the held over production, 'Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike' from Jobsite Theater playing in The Shimberg Playhouse at 8:00 pm. Tampa Theatre (6-9:00 pm) Take the free half-hour walking tour of this historic theater at 6:30 pm before the 7:00 screening of 'Knight of Cups'. The lobby bar is open to 4th Friday attendees before and during the movie.  Special offers include BOGO Large Draft Beers and Film tickets for $11

Stageworks Theatre (8:00 pm) The evening's performance of 'Inherit The Wind' carries a $5 discount with your Free wristband!

Look for the Florida Aquarium, Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Rays to delight you as you Sip and Stroll discovering special presentations and surprises in the parks along the Riverwalk.
