If you haven't heard, Guavaween is returning on Saturday, October 27 this year and bringing a whole new format along with it. Gone will be the infamous Mama Guava Stumble Parade that once took over historic 7th Avenue and replacing it will be a brand-new, multi-venue Guavaween Music Festival taking place at a handful of live music venues and clubs throughout Ybor City.
Just today, Guavaween officials announced the acts and participating venues throughout Ybor City that will make up this inaugural music festival.
Seven venues will participate, including The Ritz Ybor, The Orpheum, Czar, Crowbar, Market on 7th, New World Brewery and Centro Ybor; each of which will join together to host around 20 bands ranging from national headliners to local favorites.
Headlining the first ever Guavaween Music Festival will be indie rock legends and confessed Ybor lovers The Hold Steady. With a knack for Bruce Springsteen-like storytelling and rip-roaring rock anthems, The Hold Steady will easily bring the party when October 27 rolls around.
The Hold Steady will be supported by a slew of great acts from Tampa and beyond including Adrian Younge, Rubblebucket, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Tortured Soul, Nervous Turkey, Sound Duo, and many more yet-to-be-announced acts.
Even though the Mama Guava Stumble Parade is no more, Guavaween 2012 will still host their annual costume contest on October 27 which will take place at 9 p.m. at the Centro Ybor Stage.
Tickets to Guavaween 2012 are only $20 in advance ($30 on the day of) and include access to all music festival venues as well as the costume contest and other Guavaween festivities. To purchase tickets or get more information on Guavaween 2012, head to Ybor.org.
