Ready for Red Bull Flugtag Tampa?? With 40 teams in the 2011 Tampa Red Bull Flugtag, we take a look at a local Tampa team - Stumble Force. The Stumble Force team was organized in May and is ready to dominate this year’s Flugtag!!!!
They are just a bunch of good friends putting their knowledge and handyman skills to the ultimate test, and maybe become local celebrities after they win it all October 8th! They are well resourced and are using that to really go ALL OUT with their craft and skit. Stumble Force originally came up with 19 ideas and narrowed it down to 5 of the best, and those are the ones they submitted to Red Bull. Red Bull approved of 2 out of the 5 and they chose their Android flying phone design.
Five months later and over 150 man hours their Android based phone, which will stand 11'-10" high and 5' wide, is ready for flight. It will be pivoted before flight horizontally with the pilot riding on top and will be 6' high resting on the rolling chassis.
Red Bull Flugtag is not just judged on the aircraft or flight distance, it is also judged on the costumes and skit performed on the ramp. So will Stumble Force have costumes? Ha! They have that more than covered. To match their Android phone they will be dressed as Android "bots" and will put on an amazing skit featuring the music and theme of “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO mixed by Tampa's own Dj Knex.
So how did they come up with the idea of their craft? After experiencing 72 hours of sleep deprivation, they had an epiphany. Cell phones are rapidly taking over the world which became apparent from the overwhelming amount of TV commercials. Plus the Android bots are awesome and easily recognized.
Stumble Force is all about the crowd and doing many many things to involve them during the whole show and even more when they are up to fly. They have put just as much work into building the craft as they did in promoting the team. So make sure you take the time to vote for this local team so they can win the Red Bull Flugtag People's Choice Award. To vote for Stumble Force, text Flugtag18 to 72855.
