Get your spelling hats on. It’s that time of the year again, Tampa!
Back to school is right around the corner and that means it’s time for the 3rd Annual "Buzzed" Spelling Bee and School Supply Drive at 81Bay Brewing Company!
The event features a live adult spelling bee where contestants are tested to remember their grade school days as they compete to see who is the best speller in the brewery.
Start brushing up on your spelling words (hint: most of the words are related to craft beer culture), and get there early as participation will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be crowned the victor and win a prize from 81Bay!
And, when you arrive be sure to bring a backpack or a batch of school supplies or a $20 donation to join the party!
The event is part of the Backpack to School initiative by Simply Stated Media to raise money and collect backpacks and school supplies for Metropolitan Ministries, who donate supplies to more than 250 local kids each year.
Every attendee who donates gets:
- a FREE rice bowl from Cali South Tampa for the first 50 people!
- FREE BOGO beer from 81Bay (from a select menu)
- Multiple chances to win prizes from their awesome sponsors
You must donate to participate in the spelling bee. But, even if you don’t join the spelling bee, all donors get a free select beer from 81 Bay and raffle tickets for multiple chances to win prizes from sponsors that range from signed Lightning gear and wellness packages to gift certificates to top local restaurants.

The event is Friday, July 19th at 81Bay Brewing Company. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. and the spelling bee starts at 8 p.m.
