The Tampa Bay business community continued it's 2018 hot streak with Pasco County government announcing TouchPoint Medical will move to Pasco County. TouchPoint Medical focuses on technology in the medical field, will consolidate operations from several states to build their headquarters and a manufacturing plant in Pasco County. It is expected the move will create 116 new-to-Florida jobs in Pasco County with an average annual wage of $57,546.
A medical technology company such as TouchPoint Medical is considered a targeted industry and qualifies for many of the economic development programs offered by the state of Florida and local governments. Company names are kept secret during the negotiation phase for these incentives, so the project came to the Pasco County Commission with a cool code name: Project Resurgence. The company name and more information was announced to the public in an announcement from the Pasco Economic Development Council.
“We love when large company operations locate to Pasco and take part in the programs we offer,” shared Mike Wells, Chairman of the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners in the Pasco County EDC announcement. The incentive agreement includes rebates on property taxes over the first ten years after TouchPoint Medical opens operations and a dedicated county team committed to quickly resolving issues, including expedited permit reviews for the project. The agreement the Pasco County Commission voted on stated the facility is expected to be 125,000 square feet.
TouchPoint Medical is excited about the move as well. "After completing a thorough evaluation of multiple options on where to locate the Global Headquarters and Americas Operations Facility for TouchPoint Medical, we selected Pasco County”, stated Brian McNeill, President and CEO of TouchPoint, Inc., the parent company of TouchPoint Medical in the same statement from the Pasco EDC. “TouchPoint Medical is a growth platform for our company and we needed a location that would enable us to attract and retain a talented and motivated workforce with ample expansion capability. Pasco County and the greater Tampa area was a perfect fit. We are excited to begin our next phase of expansion and greatly appreciate the genuine hospitality and support that officials from both Pasco County and the State of Florida provided to us in our search process.”
